PSI:Capture modules provide added functionality to an already full-featured software platform. Capture modules allow expanded features in document scanning and import, forms processing, data capture, OCR/ICR, data extraction and the ability to migrate the information into an ECM or repository, such as SharePoint.

Document Capture and Scanning is a challenge in any organization. With an array of scanning devices, capture needs and backend content management systems, it is ineffective to settle for multiple applications to accomplish one goal. PSI:Capture provides a single capture platform that can meet all the needs of an organization: document scanning and import, forms processing, data capture, OCR/ICR, data extraction and the ability to migrate the information into a backend. PSI:Capture advanced capture system enhances the capabilities of any scanning device, providing a powerful onramp to any Enterprise Content Management (ECM) or Document Management Systems (DMS).

Capture Module

Capture Module

The Capture module is PSI:Capture's primary module. This is the module that allows capture from Scanners, MFPs, and watched folders (among others.)

Capture Workflow Module


The capture module allows anyone to scan, arrange, and store any type of document with speed and ease. By connecting scanning devices to scan stations and a logical file system, captured images are converted and neatly systemized directly into the user-friendly interface.

Document separator sheets can be designed to tell PSI:Capture when to split the document, decreasing the time and energy required to scan large volumes. Not only is the batch automatically organized, but high accuracy is also achieved. In addition, image enhancement, auto crop, boarder elimination, and black hole punch removal are just a few of the image cleanup features that can be automatically performed. Digital files can just as easily be imported and saved into file folders, and PSI:Capture will automatically assign an index field based on the folder name.


QA Module

QA Module

The QA module is PSI:Capture's QA and verification module. This allows operators to visually verify and, if necessary, input specific data.

QA Workflow Module


Once documents are scanned, the quality assurance module allows the user to review the pages to verify image quality. Unsatisfactory pages can be replaced, missing pages inserted, and pages requiring rotating or cropping can be changed to suit the user’s needs.

Image processing allows pages to be manipulated to improve poor quality images.Attaching a note or utilizing identifying flags can assist multiple users in batch management by leaving a specific note, or tagging items for review, rejection, deletion, or processing. Document arrangement can easily be controlled by dragging and dropping pages, documents, or entire folders to a preferred order. Indexed data can also be reviewed in “data view”, which consists of a neat spreadsheet containing fields of information for each document.


Index Module

Index Module

The Index module automatically processes data such as typewritten text, barcodes, checked boxes, tables and more.

Index Workflow Module


The indexed data of captured images is displayed in the index module. Data extraction is easier and more accurate than ever with techniques such as rubber band OCR and point and click indexing, sticky fields, auto indexing, and more, making the index process as productive as possible.

Migration Module

Migration Module

The Migration module allows data collected by PSI:Capture to be moved to ECM/DMS systems such as Microsoft SharePoint.

Migration Workflow Module


Migration is the module that provides the connection to the ECM or DMS repository. Our Migrations scripts provide the ultimate control in how documents and data are sent to applications. Future recall is simplified by taking fields entered about the documents and automatically creating folder structures and file names based on the information in the index fields.

The Reporting module provides important ROI and performance indicator metrics.

Reporting allows the user to select specific search criteria to run a query on any scanning and capture workflow operations. Query parameters can be filtered to include/exclude various data, based on dates, batch ID/name, batch status, or a specified user. Once results are presented, statistics such as sum, average, and count can be displayed instantly.
For the convenience of the user, query parameters can be saved for future use, making it easy if the same report will need to be run repeatedly. Capabilities include full workflow query engine, query results are displayed in a matter of seconds, monitoring the performance of individual employees and workgroups, and saving and retrieving an unlimited number of query parameters. Reports may be exported to a Microsoft Excel Workbook file, allowing the user to save the log to a desired location.

Batch Manager Module

The Batch Manager Module allows the tracking and overview of batch-based processing, providing a high-level view of processed projects.

The activity and events of groups of scanned images (or batches) can be tracked throughout the workflow process through the Batch Manager interface. A status summary of each batch, including name, document type, workflow step/progress, and more is available.
Batches can be tagged as exception, high priority, suspend, or hold and are easily identified as such here. Batch Manager module capabilities include automatic or manual batch naming, and is assigned a unique ID; Overall batch information can be displayed and examined and can be moved between workflow steps. Fields can be filtered to narrow down a search, or only batches of a certain project or workflow step cam be displayed. Furthermore, batch steps can be color-coded and custom named for ease of capture and imaging workflow access.

Security Module

The Security module allows certain workflow staps and processes to be divided amongst trusted user groups when multiple scan stations are used.

Multi-operator capture projects are supported by defining specific user roles for multi-station scan processing. The purpose of assigning roles is to determine which module(s) and document types can be accessed by each operator. This assists in designating the division of labor for a project.
The security module includes many robust features such as Active Directory integration. The purpose is to allow users/groups to have different roles, with granular emphasis on different document types. As part of that, admins may control the user interface icons dependent on login and role, and review the activity history of a user, as well as creating custom roles for imaging workflows.

Barcode Generator Module

Barcode Generator Module

The barcode Generator module allows quick creation of batch (and other) barcode separation sheets to be inserted to speed the automation of batches at scan time.

PSI:Capture provides a built-in barcode cover sheet generator within the product. Barcodes can be easily customized and printed to use as folder/document separators or index field barcodes. Each set of barcode data can be manually entered, or a lookup can be performed to populate values from an external database or spreadsheet file.
Barcodes are created quickly and with ease, and the order of appearance of each barcode can be effortlessly rearranged. Index Field Barcodes may be set to automatically populate index fields. Two popular and readily-available barcode types can be generated: Code 39 and Data Matrix. Database and CSV link allow large volumes of barcode separation sheets to be created with a click.

OCR Module

The OCR/OMR Module "reads" typewritten information and marks on a page (such as checkboxes) so the data can become searchable and indexable in an ECM/DMS system.

The OCR module converts scanned/captured documents into searchable files and migrates them to your Document Management System. PSI:Capture provides several Optical Character Recognition (OCR) engine options, to provide your organization with the ability to perform full text conversions, or focus on specific areas of the page.

ICR Module

The ICR Module converts handwritten text from items such as handwritten forms and surveys and converts the handwriting to text.

The ICR Workflow Module converts scanned/captured documents with hand-printed fields to data and migrates them to your ECM or Document Management System. PSI:Capture provides several Intelligent Character Recognition (ICR) engine options.
ICR is built to provide your organization with the ability to perform text conversions, or focus on specific areas of the page, using Zone ICR, a feature that allows you to isolate specific portions of information on the page. ICR can be used for forms processing, or for free form hand-printing extraction.

The ADE Workflow Module reads data strings and then allows you to perform pattern matches.

The ADE module is utilized with our OCR module and parses through converted text to look for key terms and expressions.

The Classification Workflow Module allows for the identification of forms and intelligent document separation based on form types, and validation based on page counts.

Record types allow a capture workflow to contain multiple sets of documents with varying characteristics. Dynamic RegEx and pattern matching can now be triggered automatically based on the classification of a document. These triggered expressions can also be shared across record types to make extraction simple. Smart Zones technology helps with processing information across forms through two integrated features: dynamic anchoring and compassing.
